This is an invitation to your Club to consider affiliating with the Council of Motor Clubs.
WHAT IS THE COUNCIL OF MOTOR CLUBS?
The Council of Motor Clubs (CMC) is an umbrella organisation of over 180 car, motorcycle, commercial and military vehicle clubs.
WHAT DOES THE CMC DO?
The CMC represents the interest of all motoring enthusiasts through its dealings with both government and non-government organisations. Council was involved in the development and implementation of the new Conditional Registration Scheme. Through its association with the national body, the Australian Historic Motoring Federation, Council has obtained approval for the use of Avgas in certain vehicles that require high-octane fuel. Furthermore the CMC seeks to ensure that legislation at both the state level and nationally does not impinge on the use of older vehicles on the roads.
The CMC also organises the Shannons Sydney Classic display day held at Sydney Motorsport Park each August. This event attracts almost 2000 vehicles of every make in a magnificent display.
Council produces a Calendar of Events listing all the major motoring events happening in NSW. Council also publishes The Preserve with various items of interest to the classic vehicle movement. Council holds a general meeting every two months. Each club is encouraged to send a couple of delegates to the meeting. Matters of general interest are discussed, with the occasional guest speaker.
The Council maintains a website at www.councilofmotorclubs.org.au which provides an excellent source of relevant information and forms.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Annual affiliation fees to Council are very reasonable. Small clubs pay $35.00 per year and the fees go up on a sliding scale to a maximum of $205.00.
